Mapping of vine unproductive plant detection services

2023 experimentation overview and results

The first collaborative experiment at Mas numérique took place in 2023 at the Domaine du Chapitre. Its goal was to assess the services for mapping unproductive vine plants. Several companies participated in this experiment: Chouette Vision, Vineview, and Aptimiz.

These services were evaluated according to a protocol co-designed with the Mas Numérique’s sector partners to address key questions raised by professionals regarding these services. Three categories of criteria were identified: technical, logistical, and economic.

Between April 1st and June 15th (beginning of the season), and again between August 15th and September 30th (end of the season), two sets of reference data were collected using a Centipede RTK GNSS receiver with centimeter accuracy. These data were then compared with the data provided by the participating companies.

The technologies evaluated were diverse, including: GNSS pedestrian counting devices, drone remote sensing or aerial photography, and pedestrian sensors.

All results and reports from the study are freely available on this page.
