Vineview

The company Vineview offers a mobile app for variable-rate fertilization in vineyards. In 2024, the company joined the Mas numérique as a sponsor in an experiment aimed at developing a low-cost method to modulate mineral fertilization (through speed adjustments) using only the existing equipment at the Domaine du Chapitre and the farmer’s personal smartphone. In this approach, the application was used to display speed instructions in the tractor cabin to assist the driver in applying the prescribed fertilization rates.

We demonstrated that fertilization modulation within each parcel is feasible for farms with limited investment capacity. However, some limitations were identified:

• The need for objective data as a basis for recommendations (e.g., vigor and yields from the previous year)
• The need for geomatics skills (use of QGIS) to process information and generate speed instruction maps

The experiment will be repeated in 2025 to improve the protocol, with the following key developments: 

• Using the integrated mapping tool to generate intra-parcel fertilization recommendations 
• More efficient fertilizer application through the installation of a locator on the spreader
